This is an excellent, well-designed course that provides you not only with a wealth of tools for climate coaching, but with the space to dive deeper into your own emotions around the crisis with your cohort. As a result I am now better at supporting others to build the resilience, skills and sense of purpose needed to navigate complex times.

Ruma and Emily were compassionate and thoughtful instructors that really supported the whole premise of moving coachees from deep emotions such as sadness, guilt, anger, scarcity and overwhelm to explore purpose, goal setting and action. I will be using the tools I learned throughout my coaching practice.

Why do coaches need these skills?
We believe that the climate crisis is just as much a human behavioural problem as it is a scientific or technological one. This is good news because it means that we can all do something about it, and as coaches it is particularly meaningful, because behaviour change is at the heart of what we do.
This is a topic that is showing up increasingly in the coaching room – whether for parents or executive leadership – as the environmental crisis is now an undeniable part of our reality that intersects with many other critical issues.
It’s vital that coaches are equipped to step into this space with confidence and the knowledge of how to help their clients navigate this uniquely complex topic.
Climate change coaching skills allow you to support your clients to overcome their disempowerment, overwhelm and scarcity, to find the possibility within the challenges and to reimagine and build a better future.
A course you can trust
This programme has been rigourously tested and honed over 14 cohorts, including with internal coaching teams of large organisations. The course content has been assessed and accredited by the International Coach Federation, the gold standard in professional coaching.
The course content is based on the original climate change coaching methodology developed by our co-founder Charly Cox and co-author of our book, Sarah Flynn. The updated 2024 Mastery course material (previously the Climate Change Coaching Training Programme) has been refined by Charly and Mastery Programme Director Emily Buchanan, blending climate change coaching theory with leading-edge practical application.
The course is underpinned by the key foundational coaching techniques recommended by the International Coach Federation in their core competencies.
Our live modules are designed to provide a warm, supportive and collaborative learning environment, suited to diverse learning styles. Each core module will be a mix of interactive training, live demonstration and practice coaching in breakout rooms so that you can both be coached and practice the skills you are learning.
Additional theory and resources are provided through our learning hub to deepen your understanding of each topic between sessions.

Why we built this course
When we first launched the Climate Change Coaches in 2018 we were inundated with messages from coaches who felt deeply connected to this issue but were unsure how to approach coaching this topic or even if they were allowed to. Building a programme to bring purpose-led coaches together and share our methodology felt like a no-brainer. We ran our first ‘circle’ to test these ideas in 2019 which has evolved into our flagship training programme for coaches Climate Change Coaching Mastery. To date we have trained over 200 coaches and we are delighted to see that the community only continues to grow and develop with us.
imagine the impact you could have as a coach if you could use your skills to create a better world for future generations
Join our 16-week climate change coaching program and:
- gain the confidence to coach your clients on the most important issue of our time
- stay relevant to your clients as the world rapidly changes around us
- bring a new level of purpose to your coaching practice
FAQs
Am I eligible?
To join Climate Change Coaching Mastery we require that you are either a certified coach or a facilitator/therapist who is conversant in core coaching concepts. For coaches, we ask that you have a minimum of 25 hours of coach training. For facilitators/therapists we ask you contact us to detail your understanding of foundational coaching understanding before we accept your registration.
If you have no prior experience in coaching but would like to develop your skills in this area, check out our Green Coach Transition course, which has no coaching prerequisites.
What if I can’t make all the live sessions?
All the live sessions will be recorded (except for breakout room coaching) and uploaded to the learning hub with 24 hours of the session taking place. In order to obtain course completion and full CCEUs we ask that you watch the recording and fill out a demonstration of learning form (via the learning hub) to illustrate understanding of the subject.
You must attend four out of six of the live sessions in order to obtain course completion and obtain full CCEUs. If you are unable to, you will only be awarded the CCEUs for the sessions that you did attend.
What is the time commitment in between sessions for prep and homework?
We have estimated that each module has 105 minutes of engaged learning – this includes prep material, videos, coaching action logs to fill out etc. Only about 25% of this is required to be done before the live session, the rest is self-paced and can be completed after the live session. We recommend completing each module within the period between live sessions so as not to fall behind. All the content needs to be read, exercises submitted and the short tests completed in order to gain the full CCEUs completion for the a-synchronous content, and to be awarded the course completion certificate.
How long will I have access to the learning hub?
You will have access to the learning hub content, including all session recordings up until 3 weeks after your last live session. All learning hub content muct be completed by this time in order for you to gain your course completion certificate and full CCEUs.
Do you offer payment plans?
We are happy to be partnering with Go-Cardless to offer multi-payment installments on both our fortnightly and fast-track cohort. We offer 2 options here, a 4-part payment plan for the fortnightly cohort and a 3-part payment plan for the fast-track cohort.
- Fortnightly payment plan – £315 + VAT/payment (initial payment on registering for the course and then 3 additional payments at the start of April, May and June 2024).
- Fast track payment plan – £420 + VAT/payment (initial payment on registering for the course and then 2 additional payments at the start of November and December 2024).
You can select your desired payment option at check out. To qualify for VAT-exempt course fees your billing address must be outside of the UK.
Do you offer scholarships?
As part of our commitment to develop coaches from all over the world, we are offering 2 fee-free places on every cohort to coaches in countries normally less represented on our programmes, who want to coach people where they live.
All of our work is about putting coaching into the hands of climate leaders, to inspire action that changes systems. Climate leaders in the global south often lack that kind of support and we know that the most effective kind of support comes from someone who shares their context.
Our aim with this scholarship programme is to increase the ability and capacity of coaches in the below regions, who find it difficult to cover the costs of such a training, so they can go on to support and increase the impact of their local climate leaders.
You are eligible if you are:
- a trained coach
- based in Africa, Asia (excluding Japan and Korea), Latin America/Caribbean, the Pacific Islands or the Arab states
- unable to pay for your place and able to demonstrate why that’s the case
- coaching (or wanting to) coach climate leaders where you live and can demonstrate your commitment to using your new skills with climate leaders in your country/region after this course
Click through to our application form here – closing date for our fortnightly cohort is 5 March 2024, and 15 October 2024 for the fast-track cohort.
