Meet the Team: Kelly – Social Media Coordinator
Kelly Robertson is the Social Media Coordinator at Climate Change Coaches, living in Thurso, the very north of Scotland, with her husband and three boys. With a career spanning multiple clients and a focus on the ever-evolving world of social media, Kelly brings her expertise and creativity to the Climate Change Coaches (CCC), helping to share messages that encourage meaningful action on climate change.
What makes you care about climate change?
For Kelly, her passion for climate change stems from a deep love of the outdoors and nature. “Living in such a beautiful part of Scotland, it’s evident how vital it is to protect our environment,” she explains. “I want my children to grow up appreciating these landscapes and understanding the importance of looking after them. Fostering this awareness is key to ensuring a healthy planet for future generations.” Her love for the natural world drives both her personal life and her professional mission.
How did you come to join Climate Change Coaches?
Kelly’s journey with CCC began through a connection with Laura, the operations manager, who spoke highly of the team and their work. Once Kelly joined, she immediately saw why CCC stood out. “The work I do here is different from anything I’ve done with other organisations. It’s more fulfilling,” she says. “I enjoy creating content that encourages people to make positive change, and being part of such a passionate team makes it all the easier.”
Why do you love the work you do here?
What makes CCC unique in Kelly’s eyes is their focus on practical solutions that people can actually implement. “It’s not just about raising awareness,” she notes, “it’s about fostering a sense of community, which allows for meaningful and passionate connections you don’t often get elsewhere.”
Whether it’s offering tips, workshops, or creating engaging content, CCC combines insight with actionable advice, helping individuals and families make a real impact in their daily lives.
A story that’s stuck with you
Kelly fondly recalls one of her first experiences at CCC: a “lunch and learn” event organised by Charly shortly after she joined. While new to the team, Kelly was inspired by the discussions around real-world solutions and the collaborative energy that filled the room. Moments like this, she says, make her work feel purposeful and connected to something larger.
What makes Climate Change Coaches different?
“What I love about Climate Change Coaches is that climate isn’t incidental to the work — it’s the core of everything we do. The climate crisis is the defining issue of our time, shaping every aspect of how we live and lead. It’s deeply meaningful to be part of a team that places this challenge at its very heart.”
What can people do to make their social media easier to manage this festive season, so they can get out there in real life and not be trapped behind a screen?
Alongside her professional work, Kelly is passionate about helping people manage their digital lives, especially over busy periods like the festive season. Her advice? “Schedule posts in advance so you can spend more time with family without the pressure of a posting schedule. Most importantly, have fun with your content—if there’s a time of year to embrace creativity, it’s now!”
What do you do for fun?
Outside of work, Kelly’s life revolves around her family and the outdoors. They love exploring Scotland, particularly during summer trips in their caravan along the NC500. From discovering hidden beaches to hiking new trails, the family enjoys making the most of every adventure (weather permitting!).
Words of wisdom for December
December, she reflects, is a time of both busyness and reflection. “It can be overwhelming, but it’s also wonderful for stepping back and prioritising what really matters. Simple acts, like a crisp winter walk, can be so rejuvenating amidst the holiday madness.”
Kelly also emphasizes the value of being organised with social media. “Planning ahead reduces stress and improves the quality of interactions online,” she says. “It allows for thoughtful content instead of rushed posts, giving us more time to engage with the real world around us.”
Final thoughts
Whether she’s crafting impactful content, exploring Scotland’s landscapes, or helping people manage their digital lives, Kelly Robertson brings creativity, passion, and purpose to everything she does. At CCC, she’s not just sharing messages—she’s helping build a community of people ready to learn, act, and protect the planet for future generations.
